FAQ

Q1: Should a TV be plugged into a surge protector?

A1: Do you have your PC, television, or other expensive electronics plugged directly into a power outlet? You shouldn't. You should plug your gadgets into a surge protector, which isn't necessarily the same thing as a power strip.

Q2: Are Cheap surge protectors OK?

A2: Since most surge protectors are cheap, they're worth getting (and regularly replacing) just in case.

Q3: What does it mean when surge protector flickers?

A3: The ubiquitous power strips used in every type of home or office have a tendency to flicker caused by the slow deterioration of the indicator light. ... The blinking is confined to the light itself; it doesn't affect the strip or the AC power available at the sockets.

Q4: Can a power surge damage a laptop?

A4: Your charger or battery might become damaged: In order to operate properly in the long term, your laptop computer needs to be able to have its battery recharged and be able to maintain a charge when not plugged in. Unfortunately, a power surge can render your charger and/or your battery fairly useless.

Q5: Can a power surge ruin a computer?

A5: It should be noted that although power outages will not cause direct harm to computer hardware other than data drives, it's possible for power outages to be accompanied by power surges, which can cause severe damage to hardware. As far as power surges and spikes are concerned, your biggest worry should be lightning.
